Driving Instructor Training Courses
A little bit more about Optimum Instructor Training
We specialise in training people to become Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) so they can deliver an exemplary standard of driving tuition. It’s as simple as that! Many of the new instructors who come to us are looking for a new challenge or a change of direction in their life. Some people have retired from other professions and just want something part-time to earn some extra income and others are looking for an additional income to top up their current earnings. Whatever your reason is for embarking on this exciting journey, you can be sure that we are here to help and support you every step of the way with our driving instructor training courses.
In order to be able to deliver the highest standard of driving instruction you have to have the right tools and so we are committed to providing you with the knowledge, skills and experience you need to do just that. We will guide you through all parts of the process and be on hand to share ideas, best practices and valuable experience tips. Our instructor trainers are passionate about what they do and this clearly shows in how they teach and their dedication to perfection.
We offer all this at a very competitive rate and there are no secret surprise costs – you simply pay for the hours you train. You will be assigned a personal tutor who you can contact with regards to any part of the training. The great thing is that you can train to suit your budget and your lifestyle. You could become a fully qualified Advanced Driving Instructor (ADI) for less than £2000!
How do I get started?
The first step is to choose your training provider. Here at Optimum we will provide you with an introductory pack which outlines how you start the ball rolling. Speak to us and we’ll ensure you have a driving instructor training package that is just right for you. We believe in producing tailor-made packages for our instructors as everyone is different. The fundamental basics and legal requirements are generic across trainees and their trainers, however, the little extras we offer are included and specifically designed for you. Just like when you learn to drive, everyone is different. We all learn at different paces and in different ways. This is why our packages are unique to you.
- It may seem obvious but in order to become an ADI, you must have held a full UK driving license, continuously, for at least 4 years. If you have had any disqualification in that time, the 4 years starts again from the date you re-qualified. You may not be accepted if you have 6 or more points on your licence.
- You must also be a “fit and proper person” which relates to any criminal convictions you may have. Every ADI application is dealt with on its own merits so it may be worth seeking additional advice if this applies to you.
- You must pass the examination process devised by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). This process includes theory and practical aspects and those are covered in more detail in our other pages.
- Once qualified, you must be registered with the DSA before you are permitted to teach for money.
We have simply outlined some main points here and you can read more about the different parts of the qualification on those specific pages. We provide driving instructor training that is second to none and to go with it, the support you need in all aspects of becoming an instructor. You will be trained in all 3 areas and you’ll even be able to spread the cost if required. You won’t look back once you have started your ADI training. We look forward to sharing this experience with you.
